SOAPST "My Dear and Loving Husband"
The speaker of this poem is Anne Bradstreet. She is a writer of the Puritan times, hence the occasion of her poem. She wrote the poem to her husband to explain and inform him about her everlasting love for him. Her tone is very emotional, loving, and romantic. In her poem, Bradstreet talks strongly about emotions, which violates the certain aspects that Puritan literature is based on. She compares herself to a woman who is happy in her marriage. She also explains how she and her husband are like two people who became one. Anne Bradstreet mentions how her love is more important to her than a mine of gold because no amount of money can change her love towards her husband.
